Garland, TX — In an engaging interview conducted inside the fun and colorful Scoop n’ Buns, just off the Blue Line DART station, local rapper Roman Da’Fro opened up about his musical journey and experiences that have shaped his art. Known for his performances on the Tiny Stage at Bee Hippy, Roman is set to throw his own event on June 7, coinciding with his birthday.

During our conversation, Roman discussed how his father, a former producer, played a pivotal role in his career. “My dad is the one who got me started,” he explained. “He began producing and engineering my music while I was still in high school. Music has always been a family affair for us.” Roman’s siblings are also involved, contributing to filming, photography, and engineering, making music a true family business.
Reflecting on his experiences, Roman shared, “I’ve been putting in my 10,000 hours to network and grow as an artist.” At just 26, he has been actively pursuing his passion, recently performing at various venues, including the Tiny Stage. “I didn’t even know this place existed until I performed here. It’s been a great fit for me.”
One of Roman’s favorite tracks, “Obeezy,” demonstrates his storytelling ability and has resonated with audiences. “I wrote ‘Obeezy’ from a place of nostalgia, and it just flowed out of me in about 30 minutes,” he said. The positive feedback from his father and fans has only fueled his passion for music. When discussing his older music, particularly one of my favorites, “Down on the Mic,” he explained how this energetic EDM/rap track came to life. He found some discounted EDM records from French producers and began sampling them to create a blend of EDM and rap tracks, a project he is still working on today. Roman also mentioned that he is a big fan of electronic dance music.
As he prepares for his upcoming birthday show, Roman is excited about the diverse lineup, which includes performances from poets and comedians. “I want to create an atmosphere where everyone can connect,” he noted.
Roman also teased new material for his audience, hinting at a fresh single set to be released soon. “It’s all about building momentum and getting my music out there,” he said.
With a clear vision for his future, Roman aims to become an international act, eager to share his music and experiences with diverse audiences. “I believe I can achieve that; it’s a long process, but I’m committed to the journey.”
