Dylan Hedrick Elected Mayor of Garland

Garland, TX – The results of the Joint and Special Runoff Election reveal that Dylan Hedrick will be the next Mayor of Garland.

Reporting from Dallas County

Hedrick, a registered professional civil engineer, brings a wealth of experience in public service and community engagement. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Rice University in 2004 and later returned to obtain his MBA in 2011. Since moving to Garland, he has actively participated in local governance, serving as the District 7 council representative for six years. His leadership roles have included President of the Oakridge Neighborhood Association and chairing the 2018 Garland Bond Study Committee.

Beyond his professional qualifications, Hedrick is committed to community involvement, serving as a Sunday school teacher and volunteer with the Knights of Columbus, as well as delivering meals for Meals on Wheels. In his personal time, he enjoys running, playing guitar, and supporting his daughters at soccer games.

In a statement to the Gazette, Hedrick expressed his gratitude:

“I am deeply honored and humbled by the trust the people of Garland have placed in me. This victory belongs not just to me, but to every resident who believed in our vision for a safer, stronger, and more prosperous city. I want to thank my family and the countless volunteers and supporters who knocked on doors, made calls, and stood with me every step of the way.

Garland is a city with incredible potential, and I’m ready to get to work on day one. Together, we’ll focus on rebuilding our streets, improving public safety, supporting economic growth, and making city government more responsive and available to the citizens of Garland.

This campaign may be over, but the real work begins now. I look forward to serving all Garland residents and to keep Garland moving ahead—together.”

Community participation in municipal elections plays a critical role in shaping the direction of Garland. As voter turnout remains a concern, it is important to encourage more residents to engage in the electoral process and to support individuals willing to step forward and run for office.
