ROWLETT, TX – On Friday, June 20, 2025, at approximately 8:22 AM, the Rowlett Police Department
received a call regarding a meet complainant call.
The reporting party advised that on Thursday, someone had mowed over a sealed PVC pipe containing
liquid. The individual picked up the device and shook it. When they returned to work this morning, they
decided to contact the Rowlett Police Department to report the incident.
Streets near the area where the item was found were closed as a precautionary measure while authorities
determined whether the device posed a legitimate threat.
The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Police Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal and the Garland
Police Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
DART’s explosive detection K-9 conducted two sweeps of the area and did not locate any additional
potential explosive devices or flammable materials.
The Garland Police Department Bomb Squad X-rayed the device, which showed only liquid inside. The
device was then moved to a secure, open area where it was cut open and the contents examined.
The liquid substance appeared to be water, though this has not been definitively confirmed, and did not
appear to pose any threat to the public. A sample was collected for further testing.
Normal operations resumed after the scene was cleared. No injuries were reported.
The Rowlett Police Department extends its appreciation to the DART Explosive Operations Division and the
Garland Police Department Bomb Squad for their quick response and professional assistance during this
incident.
