Press Release: From the Streets to Texas Senator Cornyn’s Local Office Community Members Voice Their Concerns

Dallas, TX — Building on the momentum of the No Kings protests in the streets of Dallas and nationwide, local community members will gather at Texas Senator John Cornyn’s office to share their personal stories and concerns regarding the pending Big Beautiful Bill (BBB). “With Medicare, my dad was able to have end-of-life care surrounded by family. Without it, our family would have to make the choice between financial ruin and my dad’s needs for comfort, care and dignity” says Dallas resident April Ralston who will attend the visit and is concerned how the BBB will impact healthcare. Ken Shimamoto will share how critical Medicaid is to help him care for his medically fragile, multi-disabled grandchild. A married, working mother of 3 will share how the cuts to the Affordable Care Act included in the BBB will hurt her family. Others will share how the bill will negatively affect loved ones caring for small children or receiving care in nursing homes. Additionally, conservationists who use the millions of acres of public lands slated to be sold off by the BBB will voice their concerns. All speakers will be available for media interviews.

“It’s important we not only march in the streets, but also engage with our representatives and share how we are personally impacted,” says Scott McWilliams of the group. Hundreds of concerned citizens have expressed interest in attending and 95 have confirmed they’re attending.
