Garland, TX – Seated at a bistro table in the center of Barnes & Noble in Firewheel, local artist HERC GTH opened up about his life, struggles, perseverance, and the vibrant arts scene in Garland.
For HERC, music is more than just a creative pursuit; it’s an essential outlet for his emotions and experiences. “I find it important to share deeply through my music,” he explained. “It’s my way of expressing my true self.” Despite facing challenges and making mistakes along the way, HERC emphasizes the lessons learned and his commitment to his community, particularly his GISD alma mater, Sachse High School.
He took a moment to shout out his former football coach, Mark Behrens, whose guidance had a lasting impact on him. “Coach Behrens taught me a lot about discipline and hard work,” HERC said, highlighting the importance of mentorship in his life.
A Surreal Moment in Time
HERC’s latest album, A Surreal Moment in Time, exclusively produced by Randy Jones and recorded and engineered by Hardis Lorenzo at Luxury United Studios, was just released this week. One of the standout tracks, “Joy,” is particularly meaningful to him. “It’s the last song on the album,” he shared. “It’s dedicated to my mom and is about overcoming, persevering, and finding happiness.”
Another track, “Gardens,” is currently streaming on all major platforms. HERC expressed excitement about the song, noting the collaborative efforts that brought it to life, particularly praising his photographer Ayejuh who captured the essence of the project.
