List of Kid-Friendly Summer Events at Local Libraries

GARLAND, TX – This summer, libraries across the area are embracing the joy of reading with a variety of kid-friendly events designed to spark imagination and creativity. From storytime sessions to engaging summer reading programs, there’s something for every young reader to enjoy!

Garland Libraries: Color Your Imagination

Garland libraries invite families to let their imaginations run wild during their summer program, running from June 1 to July 31.

  • South Garland Library:
    • Baby Bounce & Read: Fridays at 10 a.m.
    • Toddler Time: Fridays at 11 a.m.
    • Preschool Discovery: Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
  • North Garland Library:
    • Baby Bounce & Read: Wednesdays at 10 a.m.
    • Toddler Time: Fridays at 10 a.m.
    • Preschool Discovery: Fridays at 11 a.m.
  • Walnut Creek Library:
    • Baby Bounce & Read: Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
    • Family Read & Play (Ages 0-5): Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.

Please note that Walnut Creek storytimes are subject to change during the library’s move to the West Garland Library, so check their social media or website for updates. Additionally, there will be no storytimes during the week of June 29 to July 4.

Rowlett Library: A World of Stories Awaits

Rowlett Library is kicking off its Summer Reading Program on June 7, inviting children to explore stories and cultures from around the globe. Families can register starting May 19 to receive their first reading log. Returning participants should bring their Reading Challenge Membership Card to update their information. Logs can be submitted beginning June 9, and the library is excited to see everyone this summer!

Sachse Library: Summer Reading Kick-Off

Sachse Library is hosting a Summer Reading Kick-Off on Friday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This free family-friendly event promises a fun-filled morning with cold treats, balloon animals, pop-up park art, and a bubble truck! In partnership with the Michael J. Felix Community Center, this kickoff event is a perfect way to jumpstart a summer of reading and enjoyment.
