Groundbreaking Event for Rowlett Road Multimodal Connection

GARLAND, TX — The City of Garland and Dallas County invite the public to a groundbreaking event for the Rowlett Road Multimodal Connection on Friday, May 23, at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the District 1 Road and Bridge Office, located at 715 Rowlett Road in Garland.

Dallas County Commissioner Theresa Daniel will join officials from Dallas County Public Works and the City of Garland to celebrate this significant development. The new connection will span 2.1 miles, extending from Duck Creek Drive to Roan Road, and aims to enhance transportation options for residents.

Project Highlights

The Rowlett Road Multimodal Connection will feature:

  • Buffered Cycle Track: A two-way cycle track will be added, promoting safe bicycle travel.
  • Continuous Sidewalks: New sidewalks will be constructed on both sides of Rowlett Road, improving pedestrian access.
  • Traffic Lane Addition: An additional traffic lane will be constructed within the existing median.
  • 12-Foot Sidepath: From Greenbelt Parkway to east of Broadway, a wide sidepath will be included to facilitate non-motorized travel.

This project is an integral part of the City of Garland’s Trails and Bikeways Master Plan, which aims to connect various trail systems across the city. The Rowlett Road Multimodal Connection will allow more residents to utilize alternative modes of transportation.
