Garland SWAT Standoff Ends, Suspect Still at Large

Garland, TX – A SWAT standoff in Garland that began on Sunday, April 20, at 3:40 p.m. near Centerville and O’Banion has concluded without the arrest of the suspect. The situation unfolded shortly after 3 p.m., leading to a significant police presence in the area.

As the standoff progressed, officers obtained a warrant to enter the property around 9:30 p.m. However, by approximately 11:30 p.m., it was determined that the suspect had vacated the premises before law enforcement arrived. Neighbors reported that the suspect had a history of incarceration, though specific details regarding the individual’s background remain unclear.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Garland Police Department provided an update on the situation:

Officers have cleared the scene. Earlier today, officers responded to an isolated incident at a residence off of Valley Park Dr. involving a potentially armed individual. Out of an abundance of caution, there was a large police presence in the area. The individual was not located at the residence, and there is no active police activity in the area at this time. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional updates may be shared when appropriate. We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as officers worked to safely manage the situation.

The suspect is currently at large, and the Garland Police Department is withholding the individual’s name as the investigation continues. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the standoff to come forward. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
