Garland, TX — The City of Garland is set to host a Free Recycling & Shredding Event on Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Dallas College Garland Center, located at 675 W. Walnut St. This event offers residents a convenient way to responsibly dispose of various items, including electronics, textiles, tires, and documents for secure shredding.
Accepted Items
Residents are encouraged to bring the following items for recycling and shredding:
Electronics:
- Computers, laptops, and notebooks
- CRT monitors and TVs
- Cell phones and digital cameras
- Fax machines, printers, and copiers
- Office phones, chargers, batteries, power supplies
- Video game systems, cables, wires, and network items
- Appliances and more
Documents for Shredding:
- Up to two boxes per customer
- Proof of residency is required
- Remove binder clips and other non-paper items
- Acceptable documents include bank statements, bills, unwanted credit card offers, and any documents containing social security numbers
Textiles:
- Clothes, shoes, belts, purses, wallets, hats, caps, backpacks, hard toys, and stuffed animals (accepted by World Wear Project)
Tires:
- Residents may turn in up to 10 tires per address
- Valid ID with a Garland address is required
- Only passenger and light vehicle truck tires will be accepted; no tires with wheels or rims, and no commercial or farm tires
