Garland, TX — As Teacher Appreciation Week unfolds, the Garland community is coming together to honor the dedication and hard work of educators. Parents from the Garland ISD Parents Facebook group shared heartfelt suggestions and personal stories on how they express gratitude to teachers, making this week a special occasion for all.
Stephane Rovelo emphasized the significance of personal notes, stating, “A simple letter or email letting them know something specific they have contributed to your kiddo is SO meaningful.” He also highlighted the joy of receiving handwritten notes and drawings from students, which serve as cherished memories for teachers, especially on challenging days. Fellow educator Heather Anderson Burns echoed this sentiment, adding that such tokens of appreciation are invaluable reminders of their impact.
Gift-giving is another popular way to show appreciation. Sandra Tonche shared how her son’s Pre-K class celebrated by gifting three gift cards to their teacher’s favorite stores and restaurants. She shared a photo of a cute handmade bouquet of paper flowers:

Teena Ashford Johnson took a unique approach by crafting “forever” plants for her granddaughter’s teachers. Another educator, Tawanna Mcginnis, added, “I love them” in response to the photo of Teena’s art.

As the week progresses, the community is invited to explore various ways to show appreciation for teachers. This is a time to recognize their contributions and commitment to education. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
