Garland, TX — The City of Garland announced a call for entries for the 2025 Juneteenth Celebration, featuring an exhibition dedicated to showcasing 2D visual art inspired by Juneteenth. This is a unique opportunity for artists to display their work and celebrate this important historical event.
The selected artworks will be showcased during the Juneteenth Celebration on June 14, 2025, from 5 to 9 p.m. Following the event, the art will be moved to Epiphany Gallery, where visitors can view the exhibition throughout June.

Artist Eligibility
This call is open to artists currently living in Garland and the greater North Texas area. All living artists of any age and skill level are encouraged to apply.
Submission Guidelines
Artists are invited to submit digital entries of 2D artwork, which can include:
- Paintings (oil, acrylic, watercolor, digital, encaustic)
- Drawings (graphite, pastel, ink, colored pencil, digital)
- Printmaking (etching, woodcut, lithography, etc.)
- Collage
Specifications
- Maximum width of artwork (including frame or mat) should not exceed 24 inches.
- Artists may submit up to three entries.
- Approximately 25 pieces will be selected by a juror.
Acceptance and Display
Artists whose entries are accepted will be notified by email on May 30, 2025. A list of accepted artists will be posted on the Juneteenth website by June 11, 2025. All accepted artworks must be ready to hang; artwork that is not prepared for display may not be exhibited.
Framing and Matting Requirements
- Frames must be simple in design; ornate frames are not permitted.
- Mats should be shades of white, off-white, beige, gray, or black.
- All artwork should be ready to hang with wire (no saw tooth hangers).
- Include the artist’s name, title, and contact information on the back of each piece.
Liability and Copyright
While the City of Garland will take precautions to protect the artwork during the exhibition, artists should insure their own work. By submitting an entry, artists grant permission for the City to use images of their work for promotional purposes.
Entry Preparation
Artists are required to prepare digital images for submission, following these guidelines:
- File Naming: Use the format “ArtistName_ArtworkTitle.jpg”.
- Dimensions: Images should be at least 1900 pixels on the longest side.
- File Size: JPG files must be under 5.0 MB.
- File Format: Save as a “Baseline” JPG in RGB color profile.
