Dallas County, TX – As temperatures rise this summer, many older adults in Dallas County face the daunting challenge of staying cool without reliable air conditioning. In response to this pressing need, The Senior Source announced its annual “Beat the Heat” program, which provides relief to seniors in the community.
The Beat the Heat initiative, in collaboration with TXU Energy, offers free window air conditioning units and box fans to eligible seniors who lack adequate cooling in their homes.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for assistance, seniors must meet the following criteria:
- Residents of Dallas County
- Aged 60 or older
- Lacking air conditioning in their home or unable to afford necessary repairs
- Agree to attend the Beat the Heat Senior Expo
Event Dates and Locations
The distribution of air conditioning units and fans will take place at several locations across Dallas County on the following dates:
- Saturday, June 28: 9-11 a.m. at Community Missionary Baptist Church
- Saturday, July 12: 8-10 a.m. at Irving Cares
- Saturday, July 21: 8-10 a.m. at Tyler Street

Seniors interested in participating in the Beat the Heat program are encouraged to register in advance to secure their spot and ensure the availability of units.
