Back Country BBQ Celebrates 50 Years with .50 Cent Day on July 1st

Dallas, TX – The deliciously smoky aroma of smoked meats wafts through the air as you approach Back Country BBQ, a beloved local spot that has become a staple in the community for the past 50 years. The enticing scent draws patrons inside, where the mouthwatering flavors await. On July 1st, from 11 AM to 3 PM, Back Country BBQ will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a special .50 cent day, featuring 50 cent sliders, French fries, and drinks.

Located just a short drive from Garland, Back Country BBQ is owned by Scott Collard, a proud Garland native and South Garland alum. Collard got his start in the BBQ scene as a teenager, working at Big Al’s Smokehouse, before taking the reins at Back Country BBQ off Greenville, where he’s been running the operations for the past ten years. Throughout his tenure, he has creatively navigated challenges, including the difficulties posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. During that period, with the help of his neighbors, he constructed a temporary drive-thru to help keep the business afloat.

Inside Back Country BBQ, diners are greeted by an eclectic display of team flags and school memorabilia from across the country, a testament to the connection this space has with patrons who send in flags and banners to adorn the restaurant’s walls. I was introduced to this gem by the Original Garland Foodies, Jason Collard.

During our recent visit, I savored melt-in-your-mouth smoky meat, paired with a diced potato salad, crispy fried okra, and a classic southern cobbler that hit all the right notes. The food did not disappoint, reaffirming why this establishment has endured for half a century.

As Back Country BBQ gears up for its special day on July 1st, Collard invites everyone to join in the celebration. “We’re excited to offer our customers a chance to enjoy our food at these incredible prices as a thank you for their support over the years,” said Collard. “It’s a way for us to give back to the community that has supported us for so long.”

With 50 cent sliders, French fries, and drinks, it’s a perfect opportunity to gather friends and family for a delicious meal at a fantastic price. Don’t miss out on this special celebration at Back Country BBQ—mark your calendars and come hungry!
