GARLAND, TX — A charming surprise has settled on the patio of Primo’s Tex-Mex Restaurant, where a dedicated mama duck has taken up residence, brooding over her clutch of roughly six eggs. Overlooking the serene waters of Lake Ray Hubbard, she has quickly become a beloved feature for both staff and patrons alike.

For the past few weeks, the attentive mother has been making herself comfortable in a planter that the staff moved closer to the building to shield her from the elements. To ensure her well-being, the team at Primo’s has been providing her with leafy greens, and she has shown a surprising penchant for Tex-Mex cuisine, happily munching on the occasional treat.

Maryanne, a member of Primo’s staff, shared her experiences with the duck: “She is very friendly, she doesn’t bite, you can feed her with your hands; she is really calm.” Her approachable nature has charmed everyone at the restaurant, creating a delightful atmosphere for guests.
In celebration of Mother’s Day, Primo’s is inviting patrons to help name the mama duck. Guests can submit their name suggestions on the form below, and the staff will vote on their favorite. The name with the most votes will receive a $75 gift certificate to Primo’s, making this a perfect opportunity to enjoy a meal while honoring a special mother figure. Submit your suggestions before the end of Mother’s Day
Phil Lacerte, the owner of Primo’s Tex-Mex Restaurant, is happy to welcome the duck and celebrate Mother’s Day with this special addition to the patio.
As the duck continues to care for her eggs, the community at Primo’s is embracing this unique moment, blending the warmth of family and nature in a picturesque lakeside setting. So, stop by, enjoy some delicious Tex-Mex, and help name the newest member of the Primo’s family!
